ENW publishes details of Constraint Management Zones (CMZs), flexible capacity needed, and service windows. Providers wishing to participate must have eligible assets within these zones.

Key details

Bidding is usually open for 2 weeks in summer and winter, with results issued a month after.
Providers can choose which flexibility product suits them best: PR (reduction in peak power), OU (volume decided nearer to real-time), VAOU (variable dispatch dependent on network need), SU (fixed volume delivered at predefined times).
The provider is paid a utilisation fee for PR, OU and SU, and an availability and utilisation fee for VAOU.
