Peak Partners is a residential and small C&I program where customers allow Fort Collins Utilities to automatically cycle the compressors of participating customers' central air conditioners and heat pumps off and on to help balance the region's demand for electricity. Participants are given a smart thermostat.

Residential and small C&I customers receive up to two smart thermostats, including installation. The thermostats will control central AC and heat pumps to help reduce demand during peak Summer Days.

Key details

No bidding; customers pay a one-time $50 fee and participate in exchange for energy savings and demand reduction.

Dispatch is utility-controlled and occurs during summer peak events.

Participants are settled via pre-defined cycling schedules with no per-event incentive.
