Dynamic Services
Flexibility Providers are able to vary the capacity they can deliver closer to real-time through Capability Declarations. For more details, please refer to the Participation Guidance, sections 4.1.2 and 3.4.
Providers will be paid for the energy (MWh) they deliver. Providers can set their utilisation fee monthly for the monthly month.
UKPN will send requests within-day or day-ahead. To pre-qualify, assets should be capable of full delivery within 120 minutes of an instruction.
We are able to issue instructions by either email or an Application Programming Interface (API). Prior to sending the dispatch instruction, they will gather potential flexibility capacity and running time via the Capability Request.
Each solution should have metering with half-hourly resolution or higher. Metering should meet the accuracy requirements of the relevant Code of Practice at the time of installation (https://www.elexon.co.uk/bsc-and-codes/bsc-related-documents/codes-of-practice/).
Flexibility Providers have a choice of baseline:
For a utilisation instruction on a weekday, the baseline is calculated as the average metered output across the five most recent weekdays preceding the Utilisation Instruction (excluding prior utilisation event days). The average is calculated for the time period defined in the Utilisation Instruction. For weekends, the two most recent weekend days will be used.
This baseline is defined as the average output of the Flexible Unit (FU) in the last full hour preceding a utilisation instruction
We may consider an alternative baseline to the baseline methodologies described above. Alternative methods should be described within the PQQ. We may accept or reject the proposed method.
The utilisation fee varies depending on the zone. Please refer to the revenue range spreadsheet which sets out the maximum utilisation fee by zone: https://smartgrid.ukpowernetworks.co.uk/wp-
